2023 Nissan Murano: The New Nissan Murano Looks Incredible Review

Posted on

2023 Nissan Murano has become one of the older midsize SUVs in its class, the Nissan Murano is not expected to receive any changes for the 2023 model year. The 2023 Nissan Murano is the default model that many fans can say is interested in.

Many changes to the Nissan Murano have occurred since the current SUV generation came out in 2015. As a carryover model, we believe the Murano 2023 should have the same overall exterior design as the SUVs sold today.

The current 2023 Nissan Murano will feature a curved design, with flowing lines, sharp headlights, Nissan’s V-shaped grille, angular taillights, and a floating roof design. The model year 2023 Murano includes the new Nissan logo inside and out and is available in two new exterior colors, Super Black and Deep Ocean Blue Pearl.

The 2023 Nissan Murano currently has an old interior design, but the higher trim is complemented by premium materials. The dashboard has a sweeping V-shape design that flows naturally into the center console.

The 2023 Nissan Murano SUV has great analog controls and is easy to use, but the SUV design is old. The Nissan Murano 2023 should have the same interior design as the best-in-class SUV.

2023 Nissan Murano Review

We have strongly supported the Nissan lineup since 2003, where the mid-sized Murano has always offered its own bold style and comfortable seating for five. The current generation has been around since 2015, and the vehicle’s typical age suggests it should have been redesigned by now.

2023 Nissan Murano

But since the Murano didn’t change last year, and there’s no new model in the works, we think Nissan will keep this old SUV alive.

With the impressive redesign of the smaller Rogue, the larger Pathfinder, and the fully electric Ariya of the same size, the Murano not only feels old-fashioned but also looks.

The smaller Rogue now offers as much legroom as the larger Murano and offers more cargo capacity (go figure) and a more modern interior with an improved technological interface. And on the larger side, the Pathfinder provides shoppers with three rows of seating, impressive towing capacity and, like the Rogue, Nissan’s most up-to-date interior.

As for the Ariya, it’s pretty much the same size as the Murano, and while it’s more expensive, it puts a much more modern Nissan on its feet.

The Murano still has good value in its segment, but without a complete redesign, the Murano will continue to lose out on its new rivals, including the Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Passport, and Toyota Venza.

On the inside the 2023 Nissan Murano S and SV models get upholstery, and leather upholstery is found in the SL and Platinum; all models except the S get standard heated and ventilated seats.

The SL and Platinum upgrade the standard six-speaker audio system to the premium 11-speaker Bose system and add built-in navigation with voice recognition.

  • High-quality interior materials and distinctive design
  • The front seat is very comfortable
  • Spacious back seat

2023 Nissan Murano Powertrain

The 2023 Nissan Murano under the hood of all Murano models is equipped with a 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission. While the V-6 produces enough power to blend in and drive on the highway, the CVT is an SUV’s weakness due to its lack of responsiveness and selectable driving modes.

All 2023 Nissan Murano models are equipped with standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive and receive an EPA rating of 20/28/23 mpg (city/highway/combined).

2023 Nissan Murano a supporter of the Nissan lineup since 2003, the mid-sized Murano has always offered its own bold style and comfortable seating for five.

The current generation has been around since 2015, which means it probably should have received a full redesign last year. But, since the Murano didn’t change last year, and with no hint of a new model in the works, we think Nissan will continue to bring the aging SUV to life.

With the impressive redesign of the smaller Rogue, larger Pathfinder, and the upcoming and similarly sized electric Ariya, the Murano not only feels old-fashioned but looks good.

The smaller Rogue now offers as much legroom as the larger Murano and offers more cargo capacity (go figure) as well as a more modern interior with an improved technological interface.

And on the larger side, the Pathfinder provides shoppers with three rows of seating, impressive towing capacity, and, like the Rogue, Nissan’s state-of-the-art interior. As for the Ariya, it’s about the same size as the Murano, and although it’s more expensive, it puts a much more modern foot on the Nissan.

2023 Nissan Murano Review

The Nissan Murano 2023 is a midsize SUV/crossover with a strong reputation for driving comfort. Thanks to a flexible ride and supportive seat, the Murano is a capable and willing companion for long trips.

That said, the Murano competes in a highly competitive segment where more modern rivals have outpaced it in ride and handling, cabin technology, and even the versatility and space afforded by their cargo hold.

For 2023, the Murano appears to be getting an old makeover that includes an exterior and interior makeover. Not much is known at this time about trim specs, or which powertrain will be offered in the Murano 2023, but we’ll post information as soon as it becomes available.

For the record, the previous Murano came with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and was powered by a smooth 260 horsepower V6 engine paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

In our previous experience with the 2023 Murano, the CVT was a pleasure-free zone that could cause excessive engine noise under hard acceleration.

Let’s hope the 2023 Murano shows a more premium driving experience and a better-behaved transmission, maybe a conventional 9-speed from the Pathfinder. Some form of electrified powertrain seems certain to be working its way into the engine room as well.

Rivals to the Nissan Murano 2023 include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Passport, Kia Sorento, Volkswagen Atlas, and Chevrolet Traverse, to name a few.

As things are still a mystery 2023 Nissan Murano Spy Shots we can’t say for sure how they look, We hope to see them soon.

2023 Nissan Murano Review

Nissan introduced the Murano for the 2003 model year, and today, the SUV is in its third generation. Because it hasn’t been completely redesigned since the 2015 model year, it feels outdated compared to its rivals. The five-passenger Murano slots between the compact Rogue and the large three-row Pathfinder in Nissan’s lineup.

The Nissan Murano is the oldest SUV statesman in the Nissan SUV lineup. Despite getting a refresh for the 2019 model year, the same basic sports utility goes back to 2015. Since then, almost all of Murano’s competitors have been completely remodeled. We really expect the new Murano to arrive for the 2023 model year.

This five-passenger midsize SUV is still quite comfortable if you prioritize a smooth and quiet ride. Ultimately, driving balance rests on the driver and passenger cushions, not providing fast steering feedback or a suspension suitable for corners. The Murano is more of a power walker versus a sprinter.

The standard range of comfort and safety features has evolved over the years. This includes an 8-inch touchscreen, automatic emergency braking, automatic headlights, satellite radio, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 260-horsepower V6 delivers smooth and quiet performance and can be equipped in front- or all-wheel-drive format.

The Nissan Murano is a midsize SUV with seating for five passengers. It was last redesigned in 2015 so it looks like we’ll be seeing the all-new Murano for the model year.

  • Quiet trip
  • Comfortable chair
  • Linear braking

The Nissan Murano will continue with no significant changes. The current Murano design has been around since 2015, but it’s still an expressive midsize crossover with a premium feel to it. The 2019 refresh features LED exterior lighting, new wheels, and available leather seats. The Nissan Safety Shield 360 driver assistance system came standard on most of last year’s models.

While his muscular style isn’t as bold as it once was, the Murano remains unconventionally attractive. The Murano has five seats in pleasant surroundings and offers up to 67 cubic feet of cargo space. The sporty roofline limits overall utility. Boxier competitors can carry more, and some offer the third line.

Every Murano will come with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, four USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The top two trims, the SL and Platinum, also carry a Bose 11-speaker navigation and sound system. Platinum offers a high level of luxury for this class with standard features such as diamond-coated semi-aniline leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

Nissan’s familiar 3.5-liter V6 will remain under the hood of every Murano. This engine produces 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) sends power to the front wheels. All-wheel drive is available on all Murano trims.

The CVT helps the Murano achieve astonishing efficiency for a six-cylinder crossover. All versions are EPA rated at 20 miles per gallon city, 28 mpg highway, and 23 combined. The Murano’s towing capacity is stuck at 1,500 pounds, much less than other vehicles of this type.

As with previous years, most trims will be equipped with active safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control, lane guard assists, automatic high beam, and front and rear automatic emergency braking. These features are still optional on the base S model. A surround-view camera system is provided for the SL and Platinum. Murano currently receives a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

2023 Nissan Murano Redesign

With the Nissan Murano Redesign 2023, we hope to adopt Nissan’s new graceful styling shown on the upcoming all-electric Ariya. It’s a fair bet that we’ll see more economical engine options and thorough updates to all the safety features and technology. 2023 Murano Redesign As it stands now, the Murano sports a 260-horsepower V6 engine and continuously variable automatic transmission, and it trails our better options including the Honda Passport, Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, and the upscale Toyota Venza.

The current 4th generation Murano was launched back in 2015 but has aged now especially compared to its modern competitors. The Nissan Murano is slated to get a complete redesign and will join other SUVs in Nissan’s lineup including the smaller Rogue and the more capable Pathfinder, both of which received redesigns recently. The redesigned Murano is expected to launch alongside the new Pathfinder later this year.

We can expect the new Murano to adopt Nissan’s new design language showcased on the electric Ariya concept. A more economical engine option is also expected as the current V6 engine lags behind the competition in both performance and efficiency along with the CVT transmission which is not refined.

The Murano will also deliver a decent combined fuel economy of 23 MPG. With the fine-tuning of the existing powertrains, the Murano is sure to increase the stakes in the market. Along with zero-gravity seats and adequate passenger space, the new design is expected to enhance the elegance of the interior. For the exterior, the Nissan Murano is charming with boomerang headlights and a floating roof. The semi-aniline leather seat provides much-needed comfort for long trips.

After the obvious and avant-garde choice between the mid-size two-row crossover, the Nissan Murano is now just a display-only launch. Its quiet cabin and smooth ride may make it a favorite of entertainment-seeking drivers, but everyone will find the sleepy driving dynamics a little boring. The only engine on offer is a 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers plenty of power.

The downside is that it’s mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) which detracts from all the fun. There is more value and practicality to be found in the mid-size SUV segment, including the offerings of two rival lines such as the Honda Passport and Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Murano received some changes for , but the Midnight Edition package is now available and adds black exterior accents, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and illuminated door sill guards. The only other change is that the midrange SV trim gets heated front seats with faux leather upholstery.

2023 Nissan Murano Specs

The Nissan Murano features only a few changes from the previous model. There’s an optional Midnight Edition package available for the Murano and that includes black exterior highlights, 20-inch black wheels, and illuminated door sill guards.

The only other change is that the Murano SV trim comes with heated front seats and faux leather interior seats. The Murano will continue to offer the popular 4 trims – S, SV, SL, and Platinum, with base prices starting at $33,000.

Without changes, the specifications remain the same with the 3.5L V6 engine producing 260 hp with FWD and AWD drivetrain options. The interior will offer zero-gravity seats, dual-zone climate control, and even semi-aniline leather on the Platinum trim.

Safety is not inferior to the Murano which gets the Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard on all models. That said, the Murano will be in direct competition with the Ford Edge, Chevrolet Blazer, and Kia Sorento.

  • The standard V6 engine is quite powerful
  • Driving dynamics like a sedan
  • Good fuel economy

The Nissan Murano will be brought to the fore with the same features and trim as the 2021 Murano. Pricing for the Murano will start at $33,000 and will hit the market in late 2021 or early . It will get you a 3.5L V6 engine producing 260 hp, Continuously Variable Transmission, and FWD drivetrain as standard with AWD drivetrain options for an additional $ 1,550.

The interior of the Murano will feature Nissan’s famous zero-gravity seats, two-zone front automatic climate control, and upholstery ranging from fabric to semi-aniline leather. It also comes with an 8-inch touchscreen with the basics. The Nissan Safety Shield, introduced in all models in 2021, remains standard across various configurations.

Features of Nissan Murano

There will only be 4 trims available for the Nissan Murano just like last year. All trims are available in AWD and FWD variants. The common 3.5L V6 engine will be shared by all trims. There will be no additional towing capacity in the Nissan Murano.

If you are interested in buying a Nissan Murano, we recommend that you opt for the Platinum trim. Along with all the features that other trims offer, the Platinum provides a sense of luxury and security that you usually get from a high-end luxury car. Therefore for $46,000, you can already take home the top model Nissan Murano which is the best in its segment.

Nissan Murano won the Top Safety Pick+ 2021 award from IIHS. The agency gave the Murano a Good score in all crash categories, plus a Good score in the headlight evaluation. In NHTSA testing, the Murano earned a five-star overall safety score, consisting of five stars in the front and side crash tests, and four stars in the rollover test.

All Nissan Muranos come standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear traffic warning, automatic high beam, rear automatic braking, and driver alertness monitor. 360-degree camera system available.

2023 Nissan Murano Changes

Since we don’t expect any changes to the Nissan Murano, the same powertrain and drivetrain will be carried over from the 2021 model year. This will be a 3.5L V6 that produces 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that directs all power to the front wheels.

There is the option of Nissan’s Intelligent AWD system which improves traction when driving on rough roads. In terms of performance, the Nissan Murano will do 0-60 in 7.3 seconds and the quarter-mile in 15.6 seconds, which is similar to the 2021 model, as there are no changes to the mechanical parts.

The Nissan Murano has a top speed of 130 MPH. The Murano’s comfortably tuned suspension makes traveling on the road a breeze, cushioning even the worst potholes for a smooth ride. The Murano is also equipped with a towing capacity of 1,500 lbs.

The Kia Sorento is the most powerful, making 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Following this was the Nissan Murano, and then came the 250 hp Ford Edge. The Chevrolet Blazer makes at least 230 hp total power. Compared to the competition, the Nissan Murano is the fastest on the top in 0-60 and quarter miles.

With no changes to the powertrain or drivetrain, the Nissan Murano will continue to offer the same fuel economy figures as the 2021 model year – 20 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and a combined 23 mpg. The good news is that with the smart AWD system, the fuel economy remains the same.

Apart from the drivetrain, the Murano is equipped with a 19-gallon fuel tank which allows it to have a combined range of 437 miles. However, compared to the competition, this is the shortest driving distance as the competition offers better mpg figures and similarly sized fuel capacities.

2023 Nissan Murano Engine

Under the hood of all Murano models is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 260 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive can be added to any trim, and both settings use CVT. The last Murano we tested performed decently on our test track and delivered a vibrant performance around town.

Put your foot on the throttle—an exercise some Murano buyers will often do—and the CVT cranks the engine up and holds it there, producing a loud, babbling growl from under the hood. The Murano is in its element on long-distance road trips, where the powertrain fades into the background and provides a peaceful ride.

With a suspension tuned for comfort, the Murano makes work on the road easy, and the suspension cushions even the roughest pits for a smooth ride. Face the winding roads and Murano will safely drive you to the next intersection, but it won’t entertain you along the way. The steering provides good highway stability but is boring and uncommunicative on two winding lanes. Murano offers a low tow rating of 1500 pounds.

Due to the limited engine options with the current model, we can expect Nissan to introduce a more efficient engine option or even a Hybrid powertrain with the model. For now, the Murano is expected to come with a 3.5L V6 engine producing 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. ft. The engine will be paired with a CVT transmission that sends power to the front wheels. AWD is available on all models for an extra fee.

Like the engine setup, the Murano feels stable at highway speeds with good feedback from the steering wheel. The Murano can also tow up to 1500 pounds but much less than vehicles in the same segment.

The engine is powerful and smooth, but the rugged CVT transmission disappoints with sluggish performance and low response. The Nissan Murano took 7.3 seconds to hit a surprisingly slow 60 MPH for a V6 setup and crossed the quarter-mile in 15.7 seconds. In comparison, a Honda passport with the same engine setup blows the Murano away, hitting 60 MPH in just 5.8 seconds, and is the fastest in its class. Even with its Hybrid powertrain, the Toyota Venza manages to hit 60 MPH in 7.6 seconds, which is very close to the Murano.

Handling is also better than expected for a midsize crossover, but don’t expect corner carving on the Murano. The Nissan Murano feels at home on long road trips where the speed is constant and the transmission works smoothly at low voltage. Daily tasks are also handled well as long as the acceleration is smooth and not rushed.

Talking about power, the Nissan Murano produces 260 hp and 240 Nm of torque, compared to the Honda Passport which is the most powerful and produces 280 hp and 262 Nm of torque. Next up is the new Toyota Venza.

2023 Nissan Murano Cargo

Nissan Murano menawarkan lebih banyak ruang kargo daripada Chevrolet Blazer, tetapi ruang kaki lebih sedikit. Berdasarkan pengalaman kami, penumpang memiliki ruang yang cukup untuk berbaring di Murano.

  • Cargo space (behind the first/second row):
    • Nissan Murano: 67.0/32.1 cubic feet
    • Chevrolet Blazer: 64.2/30.5 cubic feet
  • Legroom (first/second row):
    • Nissan Murano: 40.5/38.7 inches
    • Chevrolet Blazer: 41.0/39.6 inch

New Nissan Murano Tech

The Murano comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster is standard with a six-speaker sound system. Navigation is available, as is the 11-speaker audio system.

2023 Nissan Murano Interior

The Murano’s cabin is one of the best and most complete interiors in this comparison and is more luxurious than most other Nissan products. Our Platinum test vehicle sported soft leather on the seats, door panels, and armrests, with a sweeping dashboard design separated by dark teak trim bands. The two front-seat passengers should easily find a comfortable sitting position in the soft seats.

Rear seat passengers are treated to a comfortable bench seat that can be reclined with plenty of cushioning. As Murano’s cargo hold is below average for this class, it’s no surprise that behind its backseat we can only fit our nine carry-on luggage while its competitors hold more.

However, with the rear seats stowed away, the Murano outperformed the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we loaded 26 boxes in the cabin. Most of the interior storage compartments are reasonably sized except for the Murano glovebox, which is very large.

All Murano models feature an 8.0-inch color touchscreen running Nissan’s NissanConnect infotainment system; navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM with Travel Link weather and traffic updates are also now standard across the range. The Murano has both USB-A and USB-C ports, including a pair on the back of the center console so those in the back seat can use their smartphones.

With the expected redesign, the interior will get upgrade with more features. Despite its age, the interior of today’s Murano still looks and feels upscale mainly due to the excellent zero-gravity front seats from Nissan’s best-in-class.

Higher trim levels get soft leather finishes everywhere, from the seats to the door panels to the armrests. The dashboard still looks modern with a swooping and curved design and wood trim lines. Move to the back seat and there’s plenty of room with a loveseat seat.

The Murano gets a zero-gravity front seat that is soft and very comfortable even for long trips. The middle passenger gets a headrest and a three-point seat belt. The back seat can also be reclined for more comfort. Semi-aniline leather seats with diamond-lined inserts are only available for the upper trim. Seating capacity is common across all Murano rivals. The legroom space is comfortable for the front row but the back row lacks legroom space compared to other competitors.

The current model lacks cargo capacity compared to more accomplished competitors such as the Honda Passport and Hyundai Santa Fe SE. The newer designs can get a more boxy look which can translate to increased cargo capacity. Only the Toyota Venza has less cargo capacity than the Nissan Murano.

All Murano models get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with NISsanConnect software and plenty of functionality including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition, and Bluetooth.

Higher trims like the SL and Platinum get a premium Bose audio system with 11 speakers including dual subwoofers. Travel links with traffic updates are available for a 3-month trial for SL and Platinum trims. Some of the prominent interior features include the following:

  • NissanConnect 8-inch infotainment system
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Reclinable back seat with center armrest
  • Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity
  • Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition
  • SiriusXM travel links with traffic updates
  • Voice recognition
  • Steering wheel-mounted cruise control
  • Driver’s seat and exterior mirror position memory system

We can expect the model to receive Nissan’s new styling as demonstrated in the all-electric Ariya concept with swooping LED DRLs, quad-LED headlights, and a large grille. The rear design gets a light bar on the tailgate extending to the side. The current generation is still sporting a bold style and distinctive V-shaped grille with silver accents. The Nissan Murano is a quiet and comfortable car despite its aggressive and sporty design.

All models get LED headlights with DRLs and chrome door handles to complete the look. The higher trim also gets a moonroof and roof rails, which further enhances the look. 20-inch alloy wheels have been provided for the SL and Platinum trims while the S and SL trims have 18-inch wheels.

The 2021 Honda Passport EX-L is the toughest among all opponents of the Nissan Murano. In terms of length, the Murano is the longest car in its segment followed by the Passport EX-L which is 2.8 inches shorter.

Murano has the largest wheelbase with dimensions of 111.2 inches compared to its rivals. However, the low ground clearance of 6.9 inches is still a problem when the car is on uneven and rough terrain. Passport EX-L, Venza Limited, and Santa Fe SE all have slightly higher ground clearance. Additionally, the Nissan Murano is expected to bring more exterior colors and additional upholstery options for the lower-trim models. Some of the prominent exterior features include the following:

  • Thick V-shaped grille
  • Active Grille Window
  • LED headlights and taillights
  • Automatic headlights with LED DRL
  • LED fog light
  • Double panel panoramic moonroof
  • Motion-activated liftgate

Nissan Murano 2023 Safety

New Nissan Murano 2023 isn’t skimping on safety with the current Murano, and we can expect even more safety additions on the new model. The Nissan Murano does not have a safety rating and evaluation from NHTSA but we can have an idea with the 2021 model data.

The Nissan Murano 2021 receives a full 5 stars in its overall safety rating and other sub-categories such as front crash test and side crash. The roll resistance test is the only category in which Murano has scored 4 stars.

As per IIHS, an overall rating of “good” has been assigned to the Murano. A ‘superior’ rating has been awarded for head-on collision prevention while a “G+” score has been awarded for child seat anchors. The Murano also bagged the coveted “Top Safety Pick+” title from IISH.

All Murano models are equipped with the Nissan 360 safety guard which is equipped with many active safety features. Child Safety Lock, Electronic Stability Control, multiple airbags, and ABS are some of the standard safety features. Higher trim levels also get traffic sign recognition, surround-view monitor, front and rear parking assistance, and intelligent cruise control.

Some of the active features include the following:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Smart Path Intervention
  • Blindspot warning
  • Rear traffic warning
  • Rearview mirror monitor
  • Rear automatic braking
  • Hill early help
  • High beam help
  • Smart driver alert

Nissan Murano 2023 MPG

With more efficient engine options expected for , efficiency figures will increase significantly. With the current V6 engine, EPA estimates reach 20 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. The Murano also gets a massive 19-gallon tank, giving it an impressive 532-mile highway range.

The Toyota Venza leads the pack with a combined 39 MPG thanks to its Hybrid powertrain. The Honda Passport EX-L is in last place with a combination of 21 MPG. As for the remaining rivals, the Hyundai Santa Fe SE has a combined 24 MPG.

The EPA estimates the Murano will deliver 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The addition of an all-wheel drive also does not reduce the rating. In our real-world testing, the Murano did not meet the estimated road fuel economy—27 mpg—but still managed to post one of the best results of the competitors we sampled. For more information on Murano’s fuel economy, visit the EPA website.

2023 Nissan Murano Price

The V motion grill adds a familiar yet exotic feel to the exterior. On a side note, the Nissan Murano is still a good crossover with an excellent design, comfortable cabin, and plenty of safety features. Despite these important aspects of the Murano, sales have dwindled in recent years by less than 60,000 units per year due to stiffer and more modern competition.

The new redesign will help it regain market share, especially if Nissan introduces a more efficient powertrain. Prices are estimated to range from $35,000 to $46,000, which is a bit higher than the current model. The Nissan Murano competes with other midsize crossovers such as the Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe, and the ever-popular Toyota Venza.

We expect the Murano S, the entry-level trim, to start at around $33,000. Since again mostly leftovers, the Nissan Murano will be close to its previous pricing structure.

The well-chosen Murano SL comes with additional features such as heated front and rear seats, leather seating surfaces, a hands-free power liftgate, and larger alloy wheels. This model will be priced at just over $40,000. Eventually, a fully loaded Murano Platinum will land around $45,000.

Since the Murano is one of the older options in this class — and it finished last in comparison tests — we’d avoid the more expensive model. That propels us towards the Murano SV, which has a great mix of style and substance at a price to match. Standard highlights include adaptive cruise control, heat-adjustable front seats, and remote start. Those who want an all-wheel drive can add it for an additional $1550.

  • S $34,000 (est)
  • SV $38,000 (est)
  • SL $42,000 (est)
  • Platinum $46,000 (est)

2023 Nissan Murano Release Date

While there is no official release date yet, we can expect the new Nissan Murano to hit showrooms in the fall of 2022 without delay unless the pandemic situation becomes dire.

Verdict

Comfort is the specialty of the Nissan Murano. We commend the midsize crossover for its spacious cabin and extremely comfortable seats. The driver has plenty of power, and braking is predictable. It provides a smooth and quiet ride too. But some might find this crossover a bit too lenient; experience significant body roll during cornering, and steering is lacking feedback. At parking speeds, the steering becomes heavy, which further reduces the maneuverability of this large SUV.

Murano’s age is starting to show. Inside the cabin, the center stack design looks dated compared to its rivals. Nissan could also improve the infotainment system graphics, especially the blurry look on the 360-degree camera system. Despite the luxurious interior, there are more modern options in this segment.

The Nissan Murano SUV has always been favored in the mid-range segment because of its age. But there are plenty of changes slated for the model from a thorough redesign to a more efficient powertrain and some feature additions.

The new Nissan Murano could provide a significant boost and address issues such as limited cargo space and engine options. With this change, Murano can easily outperform rivals in areas that are lacking. The 2021 Murano already comes with a plethora of safety features as standard with the new model slated to get even more. Overall, with the release of the new model, the Murano will make an excellent family crossover.
