The Frontier’s design is not expected to change in 2024. This mid-size pickup truck features a bold and rugged design with thick fenders, a large grille, square headlamps, and a tough front bumper. Nissan hasn’t ditched the King Cab body style and continues to be one of the few automakers to offer mid-size pickup trucks in two configurations.

Each Frontier uses a 310-hp V-6 engine bolted to a nine-speed automatic transmission with either rear or four-wheel drive.
The Frontier can be had as an extended King Cab or in a four-door crew cabin style; Bed length options are standard beds 5.0 or 6.0 feet long. From the powerful Frontier S work truck to the gravel Pro-4X off-roader with Bilstein dampers and skid plates, Nissan’s mid-size pickup remains a decent value.
While it won’t appeal as much as the Toyota Tacoma, its choice of standard safety features and bold Frontier LED lighting give it some competitive advantages in the modern truck market.

It remains a good value in this class thanks to a powerful standard V6 engine, a well-crafted interior with comfortable seats and modern technological features, and an affordable price. Truck buyers looking for a good off-roader should consider the rugged PRO-4X model with Bilstein shocks, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and an electronically locked rear differential.
The Midnight Edition look package is now available, but only on the crew cabin SV trim. The package includes black 17-inch alloy wheels, black exterior mirrors, and other dark accents inside and out. The SV Crew Cab with long bunk now gets the previously optional SV Comfort package as standard.
This package adds a heated leather steering wheel, heated front seats, spray bed liner, and under-rail bed lighting. Apple CarPlay wireless comes standard on the Pro-X and Pro-4X trims, and Lava Red contrast stitching is now included in the Pro Premium package.
We think the SV trim level has the best mix of standard features and value. Our ideal version starts with a crew cab—the larger of the two available cabin sizes—and four-wheel drive.
An 8.0-inch touchscreen (including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and a power-adjustable six-way driver’s seat are standard, but we’ll be upgrading our trucks with the Comfort and Technology package.
Together they added adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic warning, rear automatic emergency braking, heated front seats and steering wheel, a trailer hitch, lights in the cargo bed, and spray bed lining.

Redesign
The redesign gives the Frontier some extra stamps and new technology that makes it easier to live every day, including automatic emergency braking and a standard 8-inch touchscreen complemented by standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as the multimedia system feels a generation out of date.

The new Frontier is likely to attract more than your regular work truck buyer. Nissan is well aware of this and plans to use this week’s 2022 Chicago Auto Show to present a trio of Frontier concepts aimed at different types of outdoor enthusiasts.

The new Midnight package also adds a bit of fun to the 2023 Frontier lineup. Nissan says it’s available for the SV Crew Cab model, and this package has some interesting features. The Midnight Edition package adds black-painted 17-inch alloy wheels, black rearview mirrors plus a black exterior emblem on Frontier.
In addition, we also get a black grille to add to the “Midnight” vibe which of course fits the package. But that’s not all that’s on offer.
