2024 Nissan Sentra: New Update Nissan Sentra Exclusive Compact Car Review

Posted on

2024 Nissan Sentra as far as we know the latest generation 2024 Nissan Sentra is the best tempting choice among small and affordable sedans. New Sentra will certainly present many features with the latest safety technology.

We hope that there will be significant changes in presenting the latest upgrade in the 2024 model year.

As a result, we firmly believe you’ll be better served by a Honda Civic, Kia Forte, or Hyundai Elantra all rated higher than the Sentra.

These alternatives have errors, but they are much more excusable, as listed in our Central Expert Ranking below.

  • Very comfortable travel experience
  • Improved cabin interior design materials
  • Equipped with many advanced safety features
  • There are no significant upgrades for the 2024 model year

2024 Nissan Sentra Review

The Nissan Sentra 2024 remains a competent and comfortable 5-passenger compact sedan that saves your budget and is good at the fuel pump. The 2024 center will see very few cosmetic changes or adjustments to the available options, as the current model applies only to the 2020 model year.

2024 Nissan Sentra

Since this generation of Nissan’s compact sedan was introduced, more safety features and technologies have been installed as standard for every trim level.

The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, optional Wi-Fi hotspots, and each Center comes with a front collision warning system that has automatic emergency braking.

The 2024 Nissan Sentra also has blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic emergency braking, and standard automatic high-beam headlights.

It’s worth noting that many of these safety items especially reverse automatic braking and blind-spot monitors cost extra for cars that cost thousands more than the Center. So in terms of safety and value, the Nissan Sentra gets high marks.

Where this Nissan small sedan stumbles in its way of driving compared to its competitors. While the Sentra’s 149-horsepower 4-cylinder engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) deliver powerful fuel economy, the powertrain is far from the most powerful or fuel-intensive in the compact sedan market.

The Honda Civic and Mazda3 are more fun to drive, for example, while the Toyota Corolla offers long mileage (especially on hybrid trim).

If there are any drawbacks to the 2024 Nissan Sentra, here it is: There are no particularly sporty models (such as the SE-R) or hybrid variants that can squeeze 53 miles out of a gallon of gasoline (like a Canned Corolla Hybrid).

At least the cabin has a classy look and feels, considering the attractive price of the Sentra. And the trunk, at 14.3 cubic feet, holds a lot of gear.

2024 Nissan Sentra Specs

Acceleration isn’t bad, but the Center loses power as you pick up speed. We measured a time of 0-60 mph 8.8 seconds. That’s a little below average for the small sedan class but similar to other slow cars like the Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla.

In routine driving, the continuous variable automatic transmission from Sentra is smooth and unobtrusive. But it doesn’t have much of an engine braking effect when you release the gas, so you may need to apply a little more brakes than you expect when slowing down.

The brake pedal is smooth and easy to control in normal use. Emergency braking performance, however, is substandard.

Our testing center needs 131 feet to stop at 60 mph. For context, the average segment is about 123 feet. The steering and handling are mediocre but enough for the average owner for daily use.

2024 Nissan Sentra Redesign

Nissan is rumored to be giving the Centre a refresh. This compact sedan underwent a complete redesign in 2020, so while we can’t be sure that the refresh is in the books, we imagine that it won’t be too drastic if it were.

There are no spy shots available to confirm design changes on the next Center, but the refresh usually comes with minor updates to the grille, fascia, and head and taillights. In the interior, the refresh may be a slightly larger screen display and other options for upholstery.

Nissan redesigned the Sentra just a few years ago and gave it a bold new look inside and out alongside a larger, more powerful engine. Here’s what we can expect for the 2024 model year.

While there is no official word from Nissan on when the 2024 Sentra will launch at dealerships, we expect it to be officially released in the third quarter of 2022.

A continuous shortage of chips may cause production delays so that new Centers can come. no later than the last quarter of the year.

Given that the 2024 Center will most likely be the default model of the current iteration, we do not expect extensive changes.

The redesign for the 2020 model year includes a completely new look that includes a bold aesthetic that mimics the Altima and Maxima stablemates. In particular, Nissan gave it the brand’s signature V-Motion front grille and LED headlights.

The chassis was also widened by a few inches and lowered for a more athletic position. Under the hood, the biggest change came in the form of a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four engine for the lower trim models.

According to the EPA, the engine outputs 149 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque and produces up to 29 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.

That’s all said, Nissan may not change the Sentra too much for the new year model. If there are any changes, there may be a slight revision to the aesthetics and perhaps the trim level of the special edition.

2024 Nissan Sentra Interior

Comfort is one of Sentra’s stronger attributes. The ride is very quiet and easily smoothes out road imperfections. This gentleness, however, can make Sentra feel light at higher speeds. Street noise is always present but never intrusive, and nothing that a stereo can’t easily mask.

The front seats have decent cushioning and support. The best seat in the house is surprisingly found in the back.

They are luxurious, comfortable, and accommodating for two average size adults. The climate control system is not very powerful, but the airflow coverage from the vents is good. Our test car didn’t have rear air vents, but that’s typical for this class.

The controls are easily accessible to the driver and passenger and easy to understand whether tuning the radio or adjusting climate control. The 8-inch touchscreen is equally easy to read and use.

There is plenty of interior space for the front occupants. The rear legroom is among the most spacious in its segment. Most drivers will find it easy to adjust to a comfortable driving position thanks to the decent range of adjustments that come from the seats and steering wheel.

Visibility is good to the front and sides, but the thick rear roof pillars and slanted rear windows hinder over-the-shoulder and rear visibility.

The Sentra’s 14.3 cubic feet of luggage space is better than average for a small sedan. The 60/40 split rear seats fold down to help accommodate longer cargo items. But the only release is from the back seat; no release in the trunk.

Also, the seat doesn’t actually fold flat, which can make loading longer objects, such as flat-screen TVs, more of a hassle.

There’s ample interior storage for small items, cups, and bottles, although others including the Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta do this better. There’s also plenty of child seat space, but you may find the cushions make access a bit tight to the car seat anchors.

Safety Features

New Sentra is equipped with many standard safety features and driver assistance. Adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree parking camera system are still options, but overall Nissan’s standard safety suite is pretty generous.

However, we did experience some glitches with the backup camera and one false alarm with the forward collision warning system in our test car.

The infotainment system is a bit slow to respond and the graphics look dated, but you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration as standard. Nissan does not offer an onboard navigation system.

2024 Nissan Sentra Exterior

Sentra’s rear roof pillar has the same black cat’s eye decoration. The third time around, the approach has lost some of its surprises but is still very attractive and gives the Sentra a longer, more upscale shape. It was smart the first time through and fine the second.

Nissan made the wise decision to avoid overpowering the rest of the car with unnecessary trimmings. The rear and the black trim with a floating-canopy feel are both highlighted by the thin LED headlights that draw attention there.

Some of the standard specifications include 16-inch Baja wheels with full-wheel covers, halogen headlights, and active grille covers.

2024 Nissan Sentra Engine

The Sentra currently has only one powertrain option, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that produces 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. Top EPA rating 29 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.

It’s speculated that the refresh could introduce a new independent rear suspension. If so, it can improve ride, handling, and fuel economy. It is also possible that a performance version of the Sentra comes with a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine.

MPG

The Sentra achieves a combined EPA-estimated 33 mpg (29 city/39 highway), which is roughly average for a vehicle with a base engine in this class.

We observed 28.7 mpg over three tank fills in our test vehicle, with a top fill of 32 mpg. That’s slightly below what we expected given the EPA figures.

2024 Nissan Sentra Price

The current MSRP for the Sentra starts at $20,835, and it’s doubtful that will change much for the 2024 model, except perhaps for the performance version, if one is produced.

2024 Nissan Sentra Release Date

Since this refresh is speculative only, we don’t have a release date, but the next Sentra will likely be out in late 2022.
