2023 Nissan Altima We are going to discuss the 2023 Nissan Altima which in the market is known for the most alluring or exciting family sedan which is highly competent and available with several unconventional options.
The latter includes an all-wheel drive and a one-of-a-kind variable compression turbocharged engine. Unfortunately, Nissan didn’t allow them to be paired together. In contrast, the VC-Turbo is reserved for a single model which is tuned for sportier purposes and we find it very athletic.
Whereas the Altima isn’t quite as attractive as the Honda Accord or Mazda 6, it has very comfortable accommodations and a popular list of features and driver assistance. The standard four-cylinder engine and gearless transmission don’t produce an inspiring powertrain, but this combo is quiet and fuel-efficient.
In this section, we speculate that the 2023 Nissan Altima will undergo some minor changes. The 2.0-liter variable-compression-turbo engine is no longer available on the top-of-the-line Platinum model.
In contrast, the VC-Turbo is only an option on the sporty SR, which also skips the previous mid-level SV in a move that rearranges the Altima’s trim hierarchy. While this brings down the SV’s starting price by $ 2740 it also removes some of the standard features that are more attractive.
Nissan makes up for this with a new $ 1,800 SV Premium package that includes adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, lane guard assistance, skin change knob and steering wheel, ProPilot Assist, and sunroof.
2023 Nissan Altima Specs
The 2023 Nissan Altima costs around $25,000 basic version of a mid-size five-seat family sedan. It directly rivals some of the best-selling cars in the U.S., including the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata.
Every Altima is still present with a fresh and handsome body. Redesigned for the 2019 model year, the latest 2023 Altima looks slimmer and more athletic than ever before, it’s like signing up for a hot yoga class knowing that closure is imminent.
The hood is sharper, the nose has a deeper V-shaped grille, and the body is more sculptured. It’s less fat, it’s slimmer – and the traction carries over to the simply styled cab, which doesn’t quite match the energy of the exterior, but puts the controls (including the touchscreen mounted on the dashboard) where it’s easy to see and use.
Most of the Altima types have 188-horsepower inline-4 power and a continuously variable transmission that converges without much spark like the Tinder date won’t get a second.
Fuel savings are off the charts on the 39 mpg highway, but the powertrain can drone and doesn’t develop speeds that fast.
The 248 hp turbo-4 engine on the options list now only comes with the Altima SR and is more gripping – but the stiffer suspension setup and the lack of optional all-wheel drive make us return to the Altima SV as our recommended option.
With more than 15 cubic feet of luggage space and an interior for at least four passengers of 6 feet high, the Altima doesn’t leave much room for complaints.
Seat comfort is good, so is leg and headroom – and even if cargo space can’t match the Murano crossover, it’s still enough for a long weekend trip anywhere that’s accessible by car.
Overall 2023 Altima scores well in crash tests, with some uneven ratings on the NHTSA regimen.
Each is equipped with standard automatic emergency braking, and many have Nissan’s ProPilot driver assistance arrangement, which increases safety with active lane control and other accident prevention technologies.
2023 Nissan Altima Interior
On the inside of 2023, the Altima cabin will provide a sleek dashboard with a newly designed user-friendly switchgear. Interior materials vary between trim levels but are all significant improvements over the previous generation Altima.
Our SV test vehicle has exciting promise and tough plastic that attracts little attention. Flatbed and fake carbon fiber steering wheels are a bit overwhelming here, mainly because there’s no paddle shift or drive mode selectable on the SV.
Still, the soft armrests make roaming and sitting in traffic more tolerable. The front seats can accommodate a variety of body types, but we found the lumbar support too aggressive.
The large rear seats are very comfortable with ample legroom. We load six carry-on bags in the trunk of Altima and a total of 17 bags with the rear seats folded. These numbers match the Camry we tested, but both are less than 19 Accord bags.
Unfortunately, the Nissan rear seat cannot be folded completely flat and has to be removed using the handle in the trunk, which is a hassle. The Altima has decent storage in the front seats, with door pockets that are narrow through deep and a handy tray at the front of the center console.
As we already know, the 2023 Nissan Altima base model has a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The intense interface has a customizable main menu, but there are several customization options.
While the sound system has handy nodes for audio and detoxing, the touchscreen we tested gradually responded to the input. In addition to on-demand built-in navigation, the Altima infoteasing system can be upgraded with a Wi-Fi hotter as well as a nine-speaker Bose stereo.
2023 Nissan Altima Engine
Seeing 2023 developments the Altima is likely to experience an upgrade from having a standard 188-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable automatic (CVT) transmission. The optional 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers up to 248 horsepower with premium fuel and also uses CVT.
While Nissan is promoting innovative variable compression technology, only the 2.5-liter engine can be had with all-wheel drive. The standard four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive had predictable, albeit mediocre, acceleration.
The engine got louder and louder the harder we pressed the gas pedal, but the four-cylinder Camry we tested was just as loud at times. The VC-Turbo engine makes the Altima significantly faster.
Apart from the unconventional turbocharged engine and unusual all-wheel drive, Nissan isn’t as much fun to drive as the Mazda 6 or nearly any Accord.
The 2023 Altima SR receives a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch wheels that make it even more entertaining on winding roads. However, this upgrade also reduces the ride quality found on the regular Altima model.
Surprisingly, the top-of-the-line Platinum Model file we drove had a more cornering grip than the 2019 BMW 330i xDrive we tested. Nissan also has a comfortable driving experience that prevents vibrations on bumpy pavements.
The steering system is precise by family sedan standards and adds no effort to mimic the feel of the steering wheel. The Altima brake pedal has linear feedback and a fast response to our input.
2023 Nissan Altima MPG
Will the 2023 Altima not offer a fuel-efficient or plug-in-hybrid eco-friendly model like many of its competitors do? We are still waiting for the latest update but the two petrol engines have high EPA fuel economy ratings and better real-world results.
The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine has an estimate of up to 28 mpg city and 39 highway. However, the more expensive models are rated as low as 25 mpg city and 35 highway. The EPA estimates that the all-wheel-drive model can deliver up to 26 mpg city and 36 roadways.
The VC-Turbo engine is rated for 25 mpg city and 34 highway. On our fuel-efficient 75 mph route – part of our extensive testing regimen – the Altima all-wheel-drive hit an astonishing 41 mpg, while the VC-Turbo version logged an impressive 37 mpg. The most fuel-efficient (nonhybrid) Accord and Camry produce 38 mpg and 45 mpg, respectively.
2023 Nissan Altima Price and Release Date
Unlike rivals like the Accord and Toyota Camry. The 2023 Altima offers features that neither of them has: an all-wheel drive and a unique VC-Turbo engine.
While the benefits of the latter are hard to quantify, the $ 1,400 all-wheel-drive system might attract sedan buyers living in the Snowbelt. We’ll skip that option and choose an SR trim level.
Along with a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch wheels that make this family sedan even more fun to drive, the SR has several desirable features including an eight-way electric driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, an upgraded digital meter. Leather cladding steering wheel clusters and more. We also went with the Premium package which added heated mirrors, heated front seats, and a sunroof.
With a base price of around $ 25,000. The 2023 Altima comes with a cloth seat, power features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and automatic emergency braking.
